(Q) Should I wrap my horses legs or apply shipping boots for the trip?
(A) The horses that are not used to wraps or boots tend to try to remove them and find them irritating, causing a worse reaction than if they didn't wear them at all. Horses that are used to them, of course, do fine. Be careful with how tightly you wrap them. Just like us, if we were to stand in place for even an hour our legs will start to swell. So do horses. *please note: drivers will not be able to re wrap horses daily keep that in mind.
(Q) How long are coggins tests good for and how long does it take to get the results back?
(A) Generally they are good for 6 months to a year depending upon the state. This can be answered by your vet. We prefer your horse's coggins to be under 6 months.It is likely your horse will be traveling through states that require that the coggins be under 6 months. Coggins take anywhere from 2 days to 7 days to get the results back from the lab. If your are in a real bind for time, in a lot of places, your vet can put a 24 hr. rush on a test.
(Q) How long are health certificates good for?
(A) Here again it depends on the horse's destination. In most states a health certificate is only valid for 30 days.

(Q) Does my horse need a blanket?

(A) In most cases horses in natural coat will be warm enough in the trailer. The body warmth of the other horses keeps them nice and cozy.
